Power Mastery 1 (The 4’H’ Self-Development Model)

1st level – HEAD

All change begins with self awareness, knowledge and understanding. This is where most of us got our ‘education’, at schools, seminars, workshops etc. We get insight and revelation with new knowledge. It must be noted that the educational landscape has evolved drastically in the 21st century, with knowledge increasingly extracted from non-formal platforms like the internet.

2nd level – HANDS

This is where knowledge is turned into skill, theory is turned into practice. Knowledge is useless unless it is applied. Yet, this does not guarantee authentic learning or development, because it is simply a ‘motion’-drilling achieved through rote-learning. It is behaviour modification at best, without passion or heart.

3rd level – HEART

This is the attitudinal domain. This is where knowledge and skills are internalised through positive emotions. Self-belief and passion are generated here. Individuals become self-motivated, and are self-propelled to discover and learn more. This is where self-directed learning takes place. Up till this point, ‘change’ is seen as an Event. It provides a catalyst for the next stage…

4th level – HABITS

Real lasting transformation is measured NOT as an event (ie: Head, Hands, Heart), but in the process following it. This is when the initial catalyst is concretised as part of our pysche and DNA through habit-forming. Action combined with purposeful and focused targets are required to achieve desired outcome-changes. Learning becomes a life-style now, through daily practice, from conscious to unconscious competence. Self-actualisation and permanent character-formation occurs at this stage.

The key goal of Transformation is to reach stage 4.

“Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny”
