In June 1845, a group of eager young men had gathered outside an office answering a newspaper ad for a Morse Code operator. A young man by the name of John entered the waiting area to find a dozen others seated on chairs. They looked tense and seemed to be mentally rehearsing their lines. The room was silent except for the sound of a telegraph. John stood for awhile, and then walked straight through the door of an adjacent room. Within a few minutes, the employer walked out announcing that John had got the job. ‘But you didn’t even call us!’ the others cried. ‘Oh but I did…the telegraph you have been hearing has been inviting you to walk in, in Morse code. Only John responded.’

Let’s remember to listen carefully amongst all the noises from the busy world outside as well as our cluttered world inside us!…Glenn Lim
“It’s at times like this I wish I’d listened to my mother.” “Why, what did she say?” “I don’t know, because I never listened!”
